Science Fiction Convention
A galactic success

This year's Science Fiction Treffen in Speyer exceeded all expectations and once again proved why it is one of the most popular events for sci-fi fans from Germany and beyond. The enormous interest in advance ticket sales showed that this year's event would once again be a crowd-puller. Despite changeable weather forecasts, over 22,000 visitors flocked to the colourful event site this weekend.

We had enlarged the area after last year's record figures to create even more space for exhibitors, traders and a varied programme. For two days, guests immersed themselves in the fascinating world of science fiction. Highlights included the impressive opening show, the colourful parade of costumed fans and the rousing cosplay contest, which put the spotlight on the creativity and attention to detail of the participants. The lightsaber show and the screening of the fan film ‘Wingman - an X-Wing Story’ also attracted numerous spectators, who enthusiastically filled every seat in the stands.

Hands-on activities such as creative craft stations and photo points created lasting memories for young and old alike. Visitors could have their photo taken with cosplayers or take part in charity stands and exciting prize draws. From Star Wars and anime to Star Trek, Marvel, DC and gaming characters, there was something for everyone. The colourful variety of costumes once again made the event a visual spectacle and an unforgettable experience for the whole family. There is already great anticipation for next year, when the world of science fiction will once again conquer the Technik Museum Speyer: on 27 and 28 September, it will once again be ‘Fiction meets reality’.
