New Year's concert
... musically into the new year
... that's what happened on the ‘Three Kings’ holiday in Speyer. At the New Year's concert, the Wilhelmsbau Museum came to life in an atmospheric setting. In front of a sold-out audience, the sounds of mechanical instruments were combined with live piano and saxophone music to create a unique experience.
In keeping with tradition, sound artist Sina Hildebrand led the audience through the programme and whisked them away into the fascinating world of organs. She was supported by the duo ‘Surprise’, who - as the name suggests - provided a musical surprise. Their repertoire centred on the interpretation of jazz standards, complemented by blues, gospel, bossa and Latin. The odd pop song also found its way into the varied programme.
