Dear club members and museum fans,

what an exciting year lies behind us! 2024 was full of exciting events, successes and also challenges that have shaped our Technik Museen Sinsheim Speyer. Let's pause together and look back on the highlights of the last 12 months. As Museum President, it fills me with pride to share this special journey with you - a journey that goes far beyond the boundaries of our exhibition spaces.

In 2024, there were numerous moments that inspired us. BRAZZELTAG was once again a complete success and a feast for all technology enthusiasts. The Science Fiction Meeting broke all previous records. We were also able to open two new special exhibitions at the end of the year, which could not be more different and yet are equally fascinating.

The submarine transport from Speyer to Sinsheim is a very special event that united and moved the region and will remain in our memories for a long time. It was a spectacular media event in which young and old alike joined in the excitement: moving the 350-tonne submarine from the pontoon in the middle of the night, manoeuvring the 30-axle platform trailer with millimetre precision just a few centimetres past the facades of houses or manoeuvring the almost 50-metre-long maritime classic car at an angle over railway tracks - it felt like the whole of Germany was holding its breath. The transport was a logistical masterpiece that impressively demonstrated our skills and team spirit.

2025 also promises to be a year full of highlights. In addition to popular events such as BRAZZELTAG, the Science Fiction Meeting, the US Car Meeting and our big motorbike weekend, very special highlights await you: From spring, the U17 submarine will be accessible for the first time. The rescue cruiser John T. Essberger will be celebrating its 50th birthday, and at Easter we will be ‘christening our new aircraft carrier’. In addition, an SWR summer festival will enrich our event season.

Such a successful year would not have been possible without the support and commitment of our members, friends and donors. I would also like to say a big thank you to our employees. With your dedication, creativity and tireless commitment, you have managed to realise all these projects and events and offer our visitors unforgettable experiences.

Thank you for helping to keep our museums alive, achieving our goals and passing on our enthusiasm for technology to future generations. Your contribution has made this year special!

I wish you a great start to the new year, filled with energy, inspiration and joy in what we do at the Technik Museen Sinsheim Speyer. We look forward to welcoming you to our halls in 2025 and to writing more exciting chapters together.

Jetzt geht’s los

I would now like to invite you to look back on 2024 with us and relive the highlights of the past 12 months.

New Year's concert
... musically into the new year

... that's what happened on the ‘Three Kings’ holiday in Speyer. At the New Year's concert, the Wilhelmsbau Museum came to life in an atmospheric setting. In front of a sold-out audience, the sounds of mechanical instruments were combined with live piano and saxophone music to create a unique experience.

In keeping with tradition, sound artist Sina Hildebrand led the audience through the programme and whisked them away into the fascinating world of organs. She was supported by the duo ‘Surprise’, who - as the name suggests - provided a musical surprise. Their repertoire centred on the interpretation of jazz standards, complemented by blues, gospel, bossa and Latin. The odd pop song also found its way into the varied programme.

Retro market
The premiere was more than successful

Over 4,000 enthusiastic visitors flocked to the very first Retrobörse in Speyer. Despite the icy temperatures, numerous creative cosplayers also took the opportunity to attend and make the event even more colourful. In addition to a number of retail stands, there were exciting talks about cult heroes such as Captain Future and the TV superheroes of the 80s. At the gaming station, young and old were able to immerse themselves in the world of retro consoles - from the legendary Atari to the Nintendo NES and the Sega Mega Drive!

The younger ones in particular were fascinated by how their parents used to ‘play’. And the best thing is: it continues in a few weeks' time! The second round is already waiting, with even more retailers, even more promotions and everything that makes a retro fan's heart beat faster - be there on 25 and 26 January 2025!

U17 transport start
From the Technik Museum Speyer to the banks of the Rhine

On 30 June, at 8:20 a.m., we finally set off: our U17 submarine made its way to the banks of the Rhine. The starting signal for our four-week U17 trip to the Technik Museum Sinsheim had been given. We were delighted with the successful start and the smooth progress.

We had been looking forward to finally bringing our U17 submarine to Sinsheim for a long time. The maritime old-timer had been in Speyer for 13 months, during which time every day was spent preparing for its transport to the south-east. The batteries, which weighed several tonnes, had to be removed, the rotating device was installed and practising the exact rotation was one of the biggest challenges for our crew. On 30 June, the time had finally come. Full of excitement, we set off on the journey - from Speyer to Sinsheim - the dream was finally taking shape. Many preparations had to be made in advance, including in Speyer harbour. On the following pages you can once again reminisce about (transport) memories.

Roll-on of the submarine on the river pontoon

What a marvellous moment! The roll-on of the submarine U17 onto the pontoon is complete: U17 has been manoeuvred precisely and safely onto the pontoon. This marks another milestone in the four-week transport of the U17 from the Technik Museum Speyer to the Technik Museum Sinsheim! But that's not all! Now there is still a lot of securing and fastening work to be done before the pushed convoy sets off across the Rhine towards Mannheim on Friday, 5 July, where it will be turned on the pontoon for the first time.

U17 rotation in Mannheim

The first turn of our submarine on the water has been completed. This challenging operation was successfully completed today, 5 July, and marks an important milestone in the four-week transport of the submarine from Speyer to the Technik Museum in Sinsheim.

The convoy left the banks of the Rhine in Speyer in the early hours of the morning. At around 12 noon, it moored in front of the premises of the Kübler haulage company in Mannheim/Rheinau. Then it was a case of one step at a time: loosening the lashings, stowing them neatly and safely, then laying the electrics for the rotating device and getting it ready for operation. A unique spectacle for all involved - 350 tonnes tipped to one side within a few minutes until U17 came to a halt on the river pontoon at an angle of 76 degrees.

From Mannheim to Heidelberg

A real highlight took place in Heidelberg on 6 July: Our submarine U17 moored in front of the city's historic landmarks on the banks of the Neckar, attracting numerous curious visitors. Below Heidelberg Castle and in front of the Old Bridge, all those present were presented with a visually stunning scenario: the castle ruins on the right, the Old Bridge on the left and our submarine right in the middle - a real spectacle!

The transport also attracted the attention of families, history buffs and technology enthusiasts on its way from Mannheim to the Rhine-Neckar metropolis. It was a matter of centimetres as the convoy negotiated the Neckar bridge in Ladenburg and the narrow Schwabenheim lock.

U17 anchors in Heidelberg

In perfect weather for an excursion, our U17 submarine welcomed Heidelberg residents, tourists and fans to the banks of the Neckar in Heidelberg. The former submariners were more than willing to answer questions from interested visitors. As soon as the sun went down, the maritime old-timer shone in the colours of colourful underwater worlds - an absolutely breathtaking sight that was perfectly staged by the Metropolink Festival's light projection.

Ostalgie meeting
A journey through the history of Eastern European automotive engineering.

While U17 was anchored at the Old Bridge in Heidelberg and thrilled the crowds, numerous participants and visitors gathered in Sinsheim to marvel at historic vehicles, including Trabant, Wartburg and GAZ, as well as rare two-wheelers from the former Eastern Bloc countries. The owners proudly presented their vehicles built before 1991 and were available to talk shop with visitors. A highlight of the day was the ‘photo point’ in front of the LADA police car. The atmosphere was characterised by friendship, exchange and a shared enthusiasm for history and technology from Eastern Europe. The Ostalgie Treffen was a complete success again this year and once again showed how lively the interest in this special time and its cultural assets is. There will be a reunion on 27 July 2025.

From Heidelberg to Eberbach

On 8 July, we set off from Heidelberg on the 35-kilometre-long waterway to Eberbach. What a journey!

We passed historic old towns, castles, vineyards and the varied nature of the Neckar valley. We were greeted enthusiastically by the locals in Eberbach at around 6 pm. They greeted our U17 submarine with a big hello, their own submarine song and fanfares. There was an absolute holiday atmosphere on the sensational, specially heaped up sandy beach! The party went wild with rousing live music from "Get Back" and the "Eberbach Ol'star Band"!

From Eberbach to Haßmersheim

U17 on the water for the last time ... At 9 o'clock sharp, the pushed convoy with the tilted submarine U17 set off on its final leg on the water. The destination: the municipality of Haßmersheim in the Neckar-Odenwald district. The charming waterway from Eberbach to Haßmersheim led along the Neckar valley through a picturesque, wooded and hilly landscape in Baden-Württemberg. The impressive welcome with cannon shots was followed by the festive part of the day with live music and culinary delights along the banks of the Neckar.

ADAC Heidelberg Historic
Walter Röhrl inspires with classic cars and a panel discussion.

The 28th ADAC Heidelberg Historic came to an end on Saturday evening with an atmospheric finish at the Technik Museum in Sinsheim. After two one-day stages and 540 kilometres through the scenic Kurpfalz, Kraichgau and Madonnenland regions, the more than 180 historic vehicles, including a 1925 Lancia Lambda, attracted thousands of spectators. The starting field was complemented by 14 former rally cars from the 1980s, which mesmerised the rally fans. The absolute highlight was the participation of rally legend Walter Röhrl, who competed in the legendary Audi Sport quattro. He won the ‘Rallye Schloss Heidelberg’ 40 years ago with this vehicle. He was accompanied by Kuno Hug, the founder of the event and Chairman of the Board of the Förderverein Auto + Technik Museum Sinsheim e.V., who piloted Röhrl along the route as co-driver.

The rally kicked off on Thursday, 11 July, with a special highlight for motorsport fans. A film documentary by Helmut Deimel about the 1984 World Rally Championship was shown in the museum's IMAX 3D cinema. The screening was accompanied by an exciting panel discussion with the filmmaker, renowned rally photographer Reinhard Klein and Walter Röhrl. The experts provided fascinating insights into the ‘European Safari’ in Greece and the famous duel between Stig Blomqvist and Röhrl in Monte Carlo. Insider knowledge and humorous anecdotes made the evening a successful start to the rally. With this mixture of sporting competition, historic vehicles and unique experiences, the ADAC Heidelberg Historic offered an unforgettable highlight in the motorsport calendar - the 29th round will take place on 3 July 2025.

The last shore leave of U17
a successful roll-off in Haßmersheim

What an exciting morning! On 13 July 2024 our submarine was on the water for the very last time. Accompanied by former submariners, many onlookers and the U17 transport team, the 350-tonne colossus finally came ashore in the early hours of the morning. It was an impressive sight as the pontoon was positioned across the Neckar and the 30-axle low-loader carefully drove under U17. U17 was then lowered, secured, made ready for departure and parked. A great moment for everyone involved! With this marvellous action, the water transport for U17 is now officially finished.

From Haßmersheim to the cement conveyor belt near Neckarmühlbach

Breathe a sigh of relief - there were two reasons to celebrate today, Sunday. The world's first rotation of a submarine on a low-loader - an absolute milestone! And as if that wasn't enough, this day also marked the halfway point of the four-week transport from Speyer to the Technik Museum Sinsheim. What a success!

From Neckarmühlbach to Siegelsbach

Like the Mühlbach stream, our submarine meandered through the beautiful Fünfmühlental valley until it arrived in the centre of Siegelsbach at midday. The maritime old-timer was greeted with great cheers and interest by the local population. The local clubs catered for all the onlookers and, of course, our crew. The convoy set off at around 2.30 p.m. and parked the submarine behind the roundabout at the end of Siegelsbach in the direction of Bad Rappenau.

From Siegelsbach to Bad Rappenau

U17 was greeted with great cheers as soon as it entered the town. But before the celebrations could continue, there were still two tricky sections for our crew to master. The tightest bend on the route so far (the 90-degree bend at the Protestant church) was passed with the utmost care thanks to the precise and experienced efforts of the driving team. A few metres further on, the roundabout was also mastered with the utmost concentration from everyone. Afterwards, the arrival of U17 was celebrated in style.

And while the people of Bad Rappenau continued to celebrate the next day, the transport crew prepared for the upcoming crossing of the railway line.

Railway crossing in Bad Rappenau

Shortly after midnight, we set off on an exciting adventure: slowly and carefully, we crossed the railway crossing in Bad Rappenau with our submarine. The overhead lines were raised beforehand for this purpose. In front of hundreds of onlookers, the 30-axle low-loader moved forwards with impressive ease and aplomb.

As soon as it left the roundabout, our team manoeuvred U17 into Wimpfener Straße and pulled the metal colossus past the houses with the utmost care. This was also accomplished in less than 30 minutes. The metal colossus was then secured, erected and parked at the end of Bad Rappenau shortly before 5 o'clock in the morning.

From Bad Rappenau to Bonfeld

On 18 July , U17 had to cover the shortest route to the Technik Museum Sinsheim to date. However, the three junctions on this route demanded maximum concentration from the crew. After a good two hours, it was done: U17 arrived in front of the road maintenance depot in Bonfeld and was greeted by an exuberant atmosphere.

U17 as a wrong-way driver on the motorway

In the night from 20 to 21 July, the Kraichgau region experienced an absolute world premiere: our 350-tonne and almost 50-metre-long submarine drove on the fully closed A6 motorway and covered a section of the motorway as a ghost driver! We parked U17 in the car park between Reihen and Ittlingen at around 7 o'clock in the morning.

We say goodbye to
Gotthard Arnold

While we were transporting our U17 submarine to Sinsheim, we received the sad news of the death of Gotthard Arnold, one of the most important master organ builders and experts in mechanical music. Arnold, born in Saxony in 1937, died on 22 July 2024 at the age of 87.

After fleeing East Germany with nothing but a rucksack and a bicycle, his life took him to West Germany, where he began his career. Originally trained as a carpenter, he later specialised in organ building and the restoration of mechanical musical instruments. From small music boxes to large dance organs, he breathed new life into countless instruments.

Arnold's extraordinary talent for combining technology and music made him a central figure in mechanical music and an indispensable partner of the Technik Museen Sinsheim Speyer. For over four decades, he left his mark on our collections and exhibitions. His greatest successes included the restoration of the Welte Philharmonic Grand Organ and the organisation of concerts such as the Welte Concert, the Christmas Concert and the barrel organ serenade.

With his colourful hand-knitted hat, Arnold was not only an expert, but also a valued conversation partner and inspiring personality. We are deeply indebted to him and will honour his life's work. Gotthard Arnold's legacy lives on in the world of mechanical music - in every new sound created by his hands.

Railway crossing in Ittlingen

It was not only the narrow road that caused the transporters and all the onlookers to hold their breath, it was also the last turn of the 350-tonne colossus on its almost four-week journey from Speyer to the Technik Museum Sinsheim and the last railway crossing.

On schedule and shortly after lifting the overhead lines, the low-loader made its way to the railway line. At 00:30, the last of the 30 axles rolled over the railway track - an incredible moment!

U17 in Ittlingen

The residents and spectators were treated to a sight they will not soon forget: The maritime classic car wound its way through the town centre with impressive precision - what a sight. The local clubs provided the submarine fans with delicious food and refreshing drinks. Before U17 set off for its overnight quarters at the end of the town in the direction of Hilsbach, onlookers had the unique opportunity to take selfies and chat to the transport team and former submariners from the German Submariners' Association (Verband Deutscher U-Boot-Fahrer e. V.) led by Jürgen Weber.

U17 in Hilsbach

What an incredible reception in Hilsbach - our first stop of the day in the Sinsheim district! Hundreds of people accompanied the transport from Ittlingen to Hilsbach at the roadside - and with an impressive presence. U17 was duly welcomed with banners, cheers and freshly grilled food. The people of Hilsbach then happily welcomed our new exhibit. Residents and visitors to the region did not want to miss out on the spectacle and lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the gigantic metal colossus.

But before the convoy could be parked, a tricky intersection in the town centre had to be mastered. Only a few centimetres separated U17 from the church wall and a residential building. After successful manoeuvring, the crew had more than earned the applause that followed.

Bertha Benz ride
A rolling museum on a historic route

At the end of July, we were once again able to welcome an extraordinary drive in Sinsheim: the legendary Bertha Benz drive. This special event captivated participants and spectators alike. Our museum in Sinsheim was already the starting and finishing point of this unique classic car event in 2023, and this year's drive was once again an unforgettable experience.

With 45 magnificent and rare vehicles, all built up to 1930, the Bertha Benz Fahrt was transformed into a rolling museum that brought the history of the automobile to life. The impressive treasures included a Duhanot CG from 1907, a Franklin SR10B Tourer and a Locomobile Speed Car - each a jewel of the art of engineering. The oldest vehicle in the field was particularly astonishing: a Leon Buat from 1903, which proudly led the drive with starting number 1 and made the hearts of the spectators beat faster.

This extraordinary event was organised by the Allgemeiner Schnauferl-Club e.V., which once again proved how fascinating and lively automotive history can be. The spectators along the route were thrilled, while the participants proudly celebrated the pioneering days of the automobile.

U17 through Weiler to the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim

The penultimate stage through the Kraichgau region took U17 from Weiler to the grounds of TSG Hoffenheim. The winding, serpentine roads were a real highlight and made the transport an impressive logistical feat. At the foot of Steinsberg Castle, further exciting challenges awaited us: a roundabout and a narrow road that runs alongside the facades of houses. What an adventure! At times it was so narrow between the houses that road signs had to be removed to allow us to pass. But that was not all: as Burgdorf is situated on the highest elevation in Kraichgau, the route went downhill again at the end of the village.

Thanks to careful planning and preparation, which included straightening sections of the road with steel plates, the transport went smoothly. Countless onlookers lined the route and captured the moment with their cameras - an unforgettable experience for everyone involved!

U17 motorway crossing at Sinsheim

What a night! Before U17 was able to reach its final destination, the convoy had to cross the motorway in pouring rain. And the next day, the journey finally continued - to the Technik Museum Sinsheim!

It was done!
U17 arrival at the Technik Museum Sinsheim

What a grand finale! After an exciting four-week journey, U17 has reached its final destination. Thousands of onlookers lined the Neulandstrasse to accompany U17 on the final stretch to the finish line - an incredible sight! And then the time had finally come! Frieder Saam took the last bend, steered the 30-axle low-loader onto the museum grounds and parked U17 in front of its future parking space. The crowd cheered, the whole area was filled with goose bumps, an absolutely moving moment that got under your skin! We would like to thank everyone involved for their support!

Interview with Jürgen Weber

From Kiel in spring 2023 via Speyer to the Technik Museum Sinsheim in summer 2024- Jürgen Weber from the German Submariners´ Association (VDU) was live. After the exciting transport in July 2024, he took the time to share his experiences, impressions and the significance of this extraordinary project for maritime history with us.

Jürgen, what role did you have on U 17 when you were still an active submariner?

During my service in the submarine flotilla (1980 to 1992), I served in two different functions on U 17: In March 1984 I was on board as a student during the commander´s course. The aim was practical training in firing practice torpedoes. In October 1988, i was an instructor at the naval weapons school and was deployed as commander of U 17 for almost two weeks as part of a mobilization exercise for revervists in the central Baltic Sea.

What does U 17 mean to you personally? Do you have any special memories of your time on board?

Both missions on U 17 were very special for me. On the one hand, it was my first successful firing of a training torpedo as a trainee commander, and on he other hand, it was also nice to go to sea as a commander for almost two weeks after completing my training. And I still have a very special memory in my commander´s course: I had a few hours off and was allowed to draw an eye on the smut´s bunk. As the bunk was the topmost of three bunks arranged one above the other, it wasn´t easy to squeeze into it. I´ve never had any problems with claustrophobia: but in this bunk I couldn´t turn around and look over the nearest pipes.

Were you involved when it was said that we were saving U 17 from being scrapped? If so, what was it like back then ?

One of the most committed members of our group was Jörg Wiest. Back in 2008 - when the Class 206A boats were still in service - he took the first steps to preserve a boat as a museum submarine. I was one of the passives who were simply sad that no one wanted to exhibit a boat of the most successful German submarine class with almost 40 years of service as an example of German development and construction capability, also as a kind of industrial monument, so to speak. Then in 2014 - three years after my participation in the decommissioning of the last four Class 206A submarines - I was at a boaters´ meeting. And again, we commiserated with each other about the fact that not a single 206A boat was to be preserved. Until our comrade Dr. Hans-Jörg Bange (nickname: Funker Hornsby - remember the film Operation Peeticoat ) broke the self-pity with the pithy words: '' We should be able to save at least one boat from the blast furnance!'' That was the beginning of a working group of four former non-commissioned officers who, over the next four to six years, did incredible things to turn Hornsby´s slogan into reality. As Managing Director of the VDU, I was an additional member of this group in order to keep the board of our association up to date at all times. Unfortunately, our former radio mate Dr. Hornsby did not live to see the fruits of his labor, as he had to embark on his very last journey in November 2021.

US Car Convention
V8-Motors, Rock 'n' Roll und Petticoats

Our US Car Convention in Sinsheim was a complete success. We are delighted that we were able to welcome so many fans and interested parties. More than 1,000 participating vehicles and over 15,000 visitors - that's a new record! The participating vehicles were presented in all their splendour - from gleaming classic cars to spectacular low riders. The museum square was transformed into an impressive exhibition that was a true paradise for fans of American cars. The unique designs and the unmistakable sound of the engines made for astonished looks and numerous lively conversations among enthusiasts.

But it wasn't just the vehicles that were a highlight - the US car meeting offered a varied supporting programme that brought the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle to life. Live bands created a great atmosphere with their lively rhythms and got the stage shaking. In front of the stage you could admire the petticoat in all its splendour. A very special highlight was the petticoat award ceremony, which took many visitors back to the 1950s.

Under the motto ‘Grill & Chill’, visitors were able to enjoy refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere, while the dealer mile with accessories, collector's items and spare parts made the hearts of US car fans beat faster. We are already looking forward to the next US car meeting on 2 and 3 August 2025 and hope to see you there.

Submariners Live - Guided tours U17
Here the sea bears inspired

Just a few days after the arrival of U17, the former sea dogs got down to work: the ‘Submariners Live Tours’ in Sinsheim, which started on 10 August, proved to be an outstanding highlight. Enthusiastic visitors immersed themselves in the fascinating world of submarine travel with former submariners from the German Submariners' Association.

The guided tours not only offered exciting insights into the technology and history of the U17 submarine, but also lively stories and personal anecdotes from the submariners' everyday lives. In addition to the exterior tour of U17, participants were also able to marvel at numerous original artefacts from daily life on board - an experience that delighted technology fans and history buffs alike.

Due to the great success and overwhelming demand, we extended the guided tours for another month. This gave even more visitors the opportunity to enjoy this extraordinary experience and learn more about life on board a submarine directly from the experienced ‘sea dogs’.

NASA astronaut Susan Still-Kilrain
Astronaut Susan Still-Kilrain inspires visitors to the Technik Museum Speyer

On Saturday 17 August, NASA astronaut Susan Still-Kilrain provided a real highlight at Europe's largest exhibition on manned space travel, ‘Apollo and Beyond’, at the Technik Museum Speyer. As one of only three women to have flown into space as a pilot during the Space Shuttle programme, Still-Kilrain reported on her two space missions on board the space shuttle ‘Columbia’ (STS-83 and STS-94) in her lecture in front of a sold-out audience.

After the inspiring lecture, Susan Still-Kilrain was available for a signing session, during which there was great demand for her children's book ‘An Unlikely Astronaut’. The book, which is also available in the museum shop, delighted young and old alike.

Still-Kilrain is the 66th astronaut to visit the exhibition since it opened in 2008 - another special chapter in the success story of ‘Apollo and Beyond’.

In 2025, one or two space travellers will visit us in Speyer, including CNES astronaut Patrick Baudry.

The big motorbike weekend
Pure two-wheel fascination: classics, action and community

At the beginning of October, the museum grounds in Sinsheim were transformed into a veritable Eldorado for motorbike fans. The big motorbike weekend attracted numerous visitors and showed once again why this event is a highlight in the calendar for two-wheeler enthusiasts. The extensive grounds were filled with classic and modern motorbikes, which together presented a fascinating variety. The event kicked off on Friday with the traditional motorbike ride, organised by MOC Steinsberg. On Saturday, the museum president set a special highlight when he opened the meeting on a 1909 Harley-Davidson.

Opening of special exhibition
Legends on wheels - pioneering spirit, innovation, tradition

Just a few weeks after the opening of the colourful special exhibition in Sinsheim, we unlocked the hall doors of the Raumfahrthalle for the special exhibition in Speyer. Shortly before Christmas, we opened ‘Legends on Wheels - Pioneering Spirit, Innovation, Tradition’ with a small horn concert - it is the first exhibition to show the entire range of Mercedes-Benz Trucks commercial vehicles outside the plants and the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

From 21 December 2024, the special exhibition will show the fascinating history of the development of freight transport, which began with the groundbreaking inventions of Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz at the end of the 19th century. In cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Trucks Classic, a total of 18 extraordinary commercial vehicles from the years 1899 to 2024 will be on display until 5 March 2026.

The exhibition offers unique highlights such as the Daimler Kardan truck from 1899 (which will be completely overhauled during the exhibition), versatile Unimogs, the innovative ‘millipede’ LP 333 and the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025. Organised thematically and chronologically, it makes the history of motorised freight transport tangible. Visitors can experience these impressive vehicles in the centre of the ‘Apollo and Beyond’ exhibition, which comprises Europe's largest collection on manned space travel.

Even more historic commercial vehicles can be experienced live at the Technik Museum Sinsheim in September.
